Santa Fe Girls’ School (6-8)
The Santa Fe Girls’ School’s mission is to foster intellectual growth and emotional strength in adolescent girls, preparing them for the demands of high school, college and young adulthood.

At The Santa Fe Girls’ School, learning is a dynamic, open-ended and very personal process that requires and encourages dialogue and the exchange of ideas among students and teachers.

Students who have the opportunity to develop a personal and trusting relationship with their teachers feel comfortable in sharing their “world view”. This “world view” is how the student perceives, organizes and internalizes information.

As the students share their ideas, teachers discover what experiences and cultural influences have come together to form each student’s perspective. Teachers can use this knowledge about their students to purposefully weave threads into the learning process that students can recognize and relate to their own experiences. This recognition leads to the student making a personal connection to the information. The student can then apply her knowledge to the challenge of new concepts, which fosters empowerment and a life-long love of learning.

Santa Fe Colleges and Universities

Santa Fe CollegesSanta Fe Community College
Santa Fe Community College is responsible for providing the region with affordable high quality education and training. Presented through a variety of delivery methods and time formats, this includes basic skill programs; certificates and technical degrees; associate degrees with four year transfer potential, and personal enrichment courses both for credit and not for credit. These offerings are designed to add value to the lives of our community members by broadening opportunities; enhancing personal income; improving working and living conditions; and fostering richer, healthier lives. The College also responds to the economic and workforce needs of the community by quickly and flexibly providing essential training, especially in emerging technologies.
As a public institution, SFCC is responsible to the taxpayers of the state of New Mexico and the taxing district of Santa Fe, as well as to its students, faculty, and staff, all of whom support it through their tax dollars, tuition dollars, and labor. It is incumbent upon the College to use its resources efficiently and effectively.

We seek to help students understand the world and find ways of making it better. For us, that includes students of every demographic. We are diligent in offering flexible programs so that all are welcome and able to study here. We emphasize thoughtful academic advising, and pay specific attention to ethical values, both in and out of class.

We are committed to educating the “whole student.” Our core curriculum includes interdisciplinary team-taught courses that explore complex subjects in the humanities, creative expression, social and natural sciences.

In order to accomplish the goals of sustaining the highest quality of education, and promoting the greatest caliber and realization of professional performance, the staff and faculty are continually re-evaluating the program and supporting areas of institutional activity, seeking ways to enhance and maintain the college’s standard of excellence.

Southwestern College
SWC is unique (in the true sense of the word) in its Transformational Education in an ecumenical tradition. What does that mean? To me it means that through creative, authentic, interactive experiences, we endeavor to enhance ourselves and our consciousness profoundly so that we may then be of greatest service to others in therapeutic relationship. Here, the spiritual is emphasized but the specific tradition is not prescribed. On our campus, you may see any number of spiritual traditions, ancient and modern, from all continents, reflected in the practice of students, faculty or staff. So as a student member of the SWC community, you will find that spirit is explored and woven into your helping identity so that your full personhood will be brought to bear against the dynamic, spiritual and/or sociopolitical issues that prevent others from attaining their own full presence and manifestation in this life. That is the true essence of what I would call the "therapeutic relationship"..
With a solid, stable base of graduate programs and certificates, we find ourselves excited to be adding even more offerings in the near future. Our Art Therapy program is one of the largest in the country, and the chair of that program, Deborah Schroder, has presented internationally and published a book on Art Therapy. The Grief, Loss and Trauma track of our Counseling program is chaired by Janet Schreiber, who is the former director of the Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Hospice Program at Northern NM Community College. Indeed, our program has been endorsed by Dr. Kubler-Ross. You can see that SWC is a strong, dynamic player in the world of Transpersonal academic training programs, and we are taking our presence in that world to a new level.
